PTTEP is planning to commercialise the Cash Maple gas field in the Timor Sea off northern Western Australia.
The project is currently in the preliminary concept stage, which includes considering both conventional Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) options.
Full development of the gas fields will require a multi-billion dollar investment. If PTTEP’s continuing appraisal well program is successful, a preliminary concept will be selected prior to Front End Engineering Design (FEED).
Cash Maple is located approximately 680km west of Darwin, 700km northeast of Broome and 200km south of the Indonesian coastline.
The facility will produce gas from three groups of fields:
• Cash Maple field
• Southern group of fields comprising Padthaway, Bilyara, Tahbilk and Montara fields
• Oliver field
Drilling from the Cash-2 and Maple-2 appraisal wells in September 2011 and July 2012 respectively, provided encouraging results indicating a larger gas resource than previously projected.
