Our Environment Plans and Commitments

All PTTEP’s activities comply with environmental requirements contained within the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act (1999) and the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Environmental) Regulations Act (2006).

The EPBC Act is the Australian Government’s central piece of environmental legislation. It provides a legal framework to protect and manage nationally and internationally important flora, fauna, ecological communities and heritage places—defined in the EPBC Act as matters of national environmental significance. Some commitments associated with the EPBC Act require PTTEP AA to publish information on our website. These include the Montara Field EPBC Approval Annual Compliance Report and the Montara Oil Spill Contingency Plan (OSCP).

The OPGGS(E)R Act requires petroleum operators to submit Environment Plans before the commencement of any new activity or any significant modification, change or new stage of an existing activity.

Montara Production Drilling
PTTEP AA received approval from the regulator, the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA), to drill an additional production well at Montara. Drilling activities are now underway.
